Hey there skating community! My name is Joseph Flaherty. Figure skating has been a huge part of my life for the past 13 years. I started skating at the age of 6 recreationally out in Long Island, NY. I was homeschooled at the time and I remember my parents taking me out every Friday for an exciting afternoon. By the time I was 9 years old, I started taking group lessons in New Hyde Park, Long Island. This was a great experience as I made friends and got the foundation that I needed. By the time I was 12, I started taking private classes in Long Island as well as in Queens NY. I have also done multiple performances and competitions. Of all these experiences, they have helped to shape me into the person I am today.
For me ice skating is about the excitement, experience and challenge that it can provide.
